We decided not to find out the sex of this baby either and will be waiting until October to find out if we will be having a boy or a girl :) This decision was MUCH harder this time than it was last time and even though we both want to know, nothing was better than Chris getting to announce it in the delivery room and to our parents in the waiting room with Reagan!
At the ultrasound we saw that the baby was breech AND facing my back, so the chances of getting a good look at him/her was going to be slim. We were able to see the heart's 4 chambers and it was beating strong at 136 bpm. The umbilical cord looked great and the nurse was able to get all the measurements that she needed. While checking everything out we also learned that my placenta has a small hole (known as a "lake") in it. This is usually what happens to women that smoke or are around smoke during pregnancy. Neither of those two applies to me so we're not sure what has caused it. We will get another ultrasound at our next appointment in 4 weeks where they will check to make sure it hasn't gotten bigger. I'm not sure what will happen if it has gotten bigger and I guess we will cross that bridge if we come to it. They weren't concerned about it at this point and said they will only worry if it gets bigger. We are definitely praying that it doesn't grow any larger!!
Other than seeing a clear view of the foot and some of the organs, it was hard to make out much else. We didn't get a good face view but were able to tell that there are 2 eyes, a nose, and a mouth, so that's good! We're hoping the baby will have turned when we go again at 26 weeks so we can get a better look :)
